The dreams of Molana Umar Palanpuri Rahimahullah

The dreams of Molana Umar Palanpuri R.A

Molana Muhammad Umar Palanpuri sab saw the Prophet Mohamed Sallahu alayhee wasalaam many times in his dreams in which he (Salallahu alayhee wasalaam) gave glad tidings for those who were engaged in the effort of Dawat and  striving for the religion of Islam and He (Salallahu alayhee wasalaam) also assured that his attention and focus was towards these groups.

Hazrat molana himself  saw many such dreams and besides this, many people saw dreams of Prophet Muhammad (Sallahu alayhee wasalaam) accompanying molana Umar Sab also.

But here we will only narrate those dreams which Molana himself saw and noted  in his personal notebook.

From these dreams we can gauge the love that molana Umar had for the Prophet Mohamed (Sallahu alayhee wasalaam) and how much reverence he had for this great effort of dawat.

Dream one:

seen on 10 February 1980 (Sunday).

Molana Umar writes: I saw this dream in Dhaka in Bangladesh. In the dream I saw that I was looking for  Prophet Muhammad (Sallahu alayhee wasalaam) and there were many people present. I found Prophet Muhammad Sallahu alayhee wasalaam sitting between a group of people. I went there and I did Salaam to him and I shook his hands and I asked him about paradise. He replied , “inshall Allah you are going to enter into paradise and there will be great enjoyment there “.

Then I said to him that Hazrat sheikh (Molana Zakariyya R.A) and Hazrat Jee (Molana Inamul Hasan R.A) also send their Salaams and he accepted their Salaams and then he said,

“Molana Zakariyya is such a person that one’s eyes get dazzled!” (in my heart I felt that what he meant by this statement is that Molana Zakariyya is abundant Noor). After this , I awoke from the dream.

Subhanallah May Allah grant us such piety which pleases Our Prohpet Muhammad Sallallahu alaihi wasallam.

The Second dream:

seen on 9 December 1977. In Musjid Noor (Tablighi Markaz of Madina Munawwara) I slept in Hazrat Jees room where I saw the following dream.

I saw a large group of people and I asked a youngster where the Prophet Muhammad Sallahu alayhee wasalaam was, he pointed to a room.

So I entered into the room and I saw that there were many pious people there. I saw that in one corner Ebraheem Abdul-Jabbar was sitting but I didn’t focus upon the others.

The Prophet Muhammad Sallahu alayhee wasalaam was on a bed, I tried to shake his hands but he said “hang on!” Having said this the Prophet Muhammad (Sallahu alayhee waSallam) got off the bed and then he shook hands with me and then he sat back on the bed and he spread his legs, I kissed the blessed feet of Prophet Mohamed plentifully and he did not stop me.

Then I wanted to see his blessed countenance again but he was busy talking to others so he prevented  me.

When he finished talking to them he said, “Molvi sab! At this time we are going on a mission. You come along with us also!”

I asked ‘when?’ To which he replied, “tomorrow.”

I asked “where?”

And he said “the Haram (of Madinah).”
I asked “at what time?”
he said, “come whenever you want!”

After this I tried to seek permission for molana Zakariyya and Hazrat Jee but the dream came to an end.

Dream Three:

In 1970 I was sleeping in a small village whilst out in the Path of Allah  when, in a dream , I saw a big group in which the Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alaihi wasallam was present.

I went to him and met him and shook his hands. I wanted to ask him about Hazrat Sheikh Molana Zakariyya’s programme  but before I could ask him he (Sallahu alayhee wasalaam) said to me ;

“why is it being said that nothing is being done and that nothing is happening and that the workers are not doing anything?!!”

He continued, “Humility (tawaazoo) is one thing but it should not exceed the bounds and become ungratefulness! (Naa shukree)”

He repeated this 5 to 10 times and he kept on repeating this.

I did not have an opportunity to ask him about molana Zakaria and I woke up!

I cannot write in words the pain and anguish with which the Prophet Muhammad Sallahu alayhee wasalaam said these words.

Correspondence of Hadhrat Shaykh Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (Rahimahullah) with his Daughter – Letter Six & Seven

Correspondence of Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya (rahimahullah) with his Daughter – Letter Six & Seven

“The worry and pains of the world, as much as they may be, will in any case end one day. Such rewards are stored by Allah Ta‘ala are that if people were to see it, they will desire that if only their skins were snipped with scissors in the world. Thus, bear every difficult with cheerfulness, only for the pleasure of Allah Ta‘ala. Most of your time should be spent in some recitation or the other. If the hands are engaged in work, then too the tongue should be reciting durood shareef, istighfaar, etc.”
“I certainly have this complaint against you that you still continue to think about me and your sisters. The first thing you need to do is to move your heart and your very self away from everything and develop a bond only with Allah Ta‘ala. Whatever grief or pain you have, mention it to Allah Ta‘ala alone. He has power over everything. Without the will of Allah Ta‘ala, no one can be of any benefit to you. Everyone’s heart is under His control and the ease and comfort of the entire world comes with His decision. When you think about your difficulties, your anxiety will only increase. The remedy for everything is to speak to Allah Ta‘ala alone. Go into sajdah, cry and beg of Him. This is the means of earning your deen and your dunya.”

al Wird al-latif

by Imam al Haddad

Sunnah morning and evening Duas for protection and barakah

The Al-Wird al-Latif can be practised individually or in congregation, the latter being the preferred. It is
recommended, that it be recited after the Fajr Prayer in the morning and after the Maghrib Prayer in the
evening, but it can be recited at any time of the day. In the evening, the words in brackets should be read
instead (refer to pgs. 30, 32, 46, 48, 50). The prime reason for the translation and transliteration of the Al-
Wird al-Laif, is to empower the reader, in order for him/her (the worshipper, the abid) to understand,
internalise and reflect on the passages in this litany, and to enable him/her to climb the various stations (maqam)
in his/her journey to Allah , the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful

Abu Dujana 1

Hirz Abu Dujana’. Imam-i Baihaqi says in his book Dalail-un- nubuwwa and Imam-i Qurtubi in his book Tazkira that Abu Dujana said, “I was lying down, when I heard a noise like the noise of a mill or that of the leaves of a tree and saw a flash like lightning. I raised my head to see something black that was rising in the middle of the room. I felt it with my hand. It was like a porcupine’s skin. It began to throw things like sparks at my face. At once I went to Rasulullah and told him what had happened. He said, ‘O Aba Dujana! May Allah give your home goodness and abundance!’ He asked for a pen and a piece of paper. He had Ali ‘radiAllahu anh’ write a letter. I took the letter to my home. I put it under my head and went to sleep. A yelling voice woke me up. It said, ‘O Aba Dujana! You have burned me with that letter. Your owner is certainly much higher than we are. There is no way of escape for us, except that you remove that letter. We shall no longer come to your home or your neighbors.’ We cannot go to places where the letter is.’ I told him that I could not remove the letter without getting my owner’s permission. The night seemed very long to me because of the crying and wailing of genies. After performing the morning prayer in the mosque, I told Rasulullah what the genie had said. Rasulullah ‘sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam’ said, ‘Remove the letter. Or else they will suffer the letter’s pain till the Resurrection.'”

Translation of Hirz Abu Dujanah:

In the name of Allah the All Gracious, the All Merciful. This is a letter from Muhammad the messenger of the lord of the worlds to those who enter the home from the populace, the visitors and the pious, except a person who comes with good O Rahman. After praising Allah, there is clemency for us and you in the truth. If you are loving and passionate, or sinful and invading or desiring the truth or intending evil, then this is the book of Allah which declares the truth over us and you. Indeed we will abolish / transcribe what you were doing. Our angels record what you are plotting. Leave the person who has with him this letter of mine and move over to the idolaters and to those who claim that there is a deity other than Allah. There is no deity besides Him, everything besides Him shall perish. For Him alone is the divine decree and to Him alone will everything be returned. They will be overpowered. Haa Meem, they will not be helped. Haa Meem `Ain Seen Qaaf. Disperse O enemies of Allah and the proof of Allah has reached. There is no power to do good and no strength to stay away from evil except from Allah. Soon Allah will suffice them and He is the All Hearing and the All Knowledgeable.

Basically, there are two sanads for this hadeeth. The muhadditheen have classified only one of the sanads as moudhoo` i.e. the riwaayat of ibn-ul-Jowzi. The other sanad which has been quoted by Imam Baihaqi, Allamah Suyooti and Arraaq has not been severely criticized by the muhadditheen. Hence, this du`aa can be used.

Shaykh Uthman Dan Fodio’s love for Rasulullah sallallahu alayhu wasallam

Shaykh Uthman ibn Muhammad ibn Uthman, known as Dan Fodio’, may Allah engulf him in His mercy Ameen wrote this beautiful poem which is translated from the arabic by:  Shaykh Muhammad Shareef, translation of the ad-Daaliyya Qaseeda o Shehu Uthman ibn Fuduye`, Sankore Institute of Islamic African Studies/www,

“Is there for me a way to travel swiftly towards Tayba, To visit the tomb of the Hashimi Muhammad? That which has spread its fragrance under his protection Has caused the pilgrims to convulse in the direction of Muhammad I went away bathed in tears, tears falling like a downpour, Yearning towards that Prophet Muhammad I swear by the Rahman, I possess not a single excellent trait, I am only totally encompassed in the love of Prophet Muhammad I give a description of the affliction of my longing for him, which is plain to see For me there are no enjoyments without visiting that Master I have become exhausted yearning to hasten to his grave Truly for me, there are no pleasures and joys in life without Muhammad. He is the sun of illumination, crown of guidance, the sea of generosity Indeed there is no good except in following Muhammad.4 He is the downpour whose blessings encompass all creatures Rather, the entire creation of Allah is less than Muhammad. If I had traveled to Tayba, I would have obtained the object of my desires, Being completely covered in the dust of the sandals of Muhammad. The tomb of Ahmad is plastered with fragrances I am strengthened with the scent of musk, the fragrance of Muhammad. The sun is nothing nor is the eclipse which distorts it, There is no eclipsing the light of that Guide. The desire of my heart is to visit his house, My tears overflow from the loss of that Master. My tears pour forth when I remember his demise, For I am consumed in the love of Prophet Muhammad. If it is said to me ‘Who fills you with longing among mankind?’ Then I will say, ‘I am passionately in love with Muhammad. Completely destroyed is the one, who refuses to follow his path, His torment will be prolonged here and likewise in the next life. Arise with us and let us run to the sun of guidance, Let us swiftly traverse the open dessert to visit the grave of Muhammad.5 Lets fasten our saddles heading towards the beauty of the Day of Standing, Lets us role ourselves in the dust of that mosque in Tayba Sallallahu Ala Sayyidina Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wasallam

DONT only be a Ramadhan Muslim!

DONT be only a Ramadhan muslim…

It is important for us to be sincere in our love for Allah. That means worship Him all the time. Every night in Ramadhan and out of it. Not just for rewards but out of love and gratitude for Allah Ta’ala. People tend to vie with one another in ibadah which is good but the reason for Allah giving us Ramadhan is not just to make ibadah, rather the main reason is for us to take something from Ramadhan and His mercy That thing is TAQWA out of Ramadhan.

We make ibadah and we are doing something good but after Ramadhan we go back to the sins. We don’t make intention to stay away from sins after Ramadhan nor do we have that desire. This is nifaq ones Islam and we are playing games with Allah. We go Back to the lies, back to the missing salah, back to the movies, back to the songs, back to our old habits. Such a person is in great loss! So what has he achieved? Yes we may have got the forgiveness of Allah but we haven’t attained Taqwa of the nafs and heart. The person that stays away from sin AFTER Ramadhan, he is the one whose Ramadhan has been accepted and blessed by Allah. So we have to make our ibadah with our hearts and regret for our sins and make many promises and strong intentions and many many duas to Allah never to let us be unmindful again and not to allow ourselves to disobey Him again. Every obedient person is a Zaakir!

If we have left sins and ghaflat’ useless surfing and permissible things, time wasting etc and have a disgust with them and find no peace in them and only find peace in Allah’s remembrance…then we have truly attained an accepted Ramadhan.

Recently the Mashaaikh that come here to south Africa have been telling us just one thing ‘ you South Africans look like pious muslims outwardly andd make lots of ibadah….but you make just as much sin as well thereby ruining all your good deeds. This is very much disliked by Allah and a person will never progress like this and will not benefit from good deeds. The main essential thing is to stay away from every sin and ghaflah, this negligence (useless permissible pastimes). This comes first, before ibadah. The closest person to Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam is he who has the most Taqwa, whoever he is, wherever he is.’

For us these days the best ibadah is Istighfaar. We are not short of salah, tilawat. Zikr, but we are short of and lacking in true tawbah and humility to Allah. We lack those precious tears which are rare and a precious commodity to the angels to those in the heavens and is so beloved to Allah. Our ibadah at times also gives us pride and vanity but tawba and istighfar always brings humility and gifts from Allah.

On the night of qadr one of the best ibadah is the dua taught by Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam to Aysha Radiallahu Anha ‘ Allahumma innaka afuwun tuhibbul afwa fa’fu-anni. This dua has a special connection with laylatul qadr and is the most effective in softening the heart, wiping out sins and bringing one closer to Allah. One should read it, pausing after each sentence in it thinking we are in Allah’s presence. The night that you feel the effects of this dua the most, that night possibly is laylatul qadr. This dua should be recited at least 100 times in one sitting while shedding tears and being hopeful of Allah’s forgiveness and feeling ashamed of one’s sins. Also read it continiously throughout the night (300 times is a good number) May Allah Ta’ala give us tawfeeq.
